President / Consultant 

·         July 1989, founded DTAC Services Corporation which provides a consulting and expert witness service to trial lawyers involved in air compressor / systems product litigation. 

·       Worked directly with the Presidents of several start-up corporations in North Carolina. Involved in business and product planning, manufacturing, marketing, and new product commercial viability for the market.

 

 

1993-1997            Save-A-Load                                                                     Charlotte, NC

V.P. Engineering (Part-Time) 

·    Responsible for all Engineering and Q.C. functions in the company. 

·    Designed, tested and introduced to the market place four new hydraulic bracing bars and several accessory products.

 

 

1977 –1989          Ingersoll-Rand Company                                                  Davidson, NC

Manager of Development Engineering 

·    Direct report to V.P./G.M. of the Rotary-Reciprocating Division with international responsibilities for all stationary compressor development. Subordinates included Manager of Advanced Technology, Manager of CAE/CAD/CAM, Manager of Electronic Controls, Manager of Compressor packaging, and Manager of Engineering Lab. 

·    Successfully developed and introduced over seven Compressor Product Lines (lubricated and non-lubricated) over 12 years. 

·    Provided Engineering Technical Support and product Design approvals for all 50 hertz compressor products manufactured in the U.K. for sale in Europe and elsewhere. 

·    Supported testing and technical involvement in the conceptualizing and design of several corporate technological developments, involving small reciprocating compressors and scroll/rolling piston type compressors. Active participant in the I.R. Corporate Advanced Technology Council. Coordinated with I.R. India Manufacturing Organization to manufacture rotary screw modules for export to the U.S. (seed-flower project).

 

 

1975–1977           Joy Manufacturing Company                                    Michigan City, IN

Chief Engineer, Product Development 

·    Direct report to Operations Manager at the Michigan City plant. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the activities of all rotary airend development, and designs being manufactured at the Joy Claremont Plant (New Hampshire). 

·    Directed lab performance and mechanical integrity testing plus supported designs for overseas joint ventures. 

·    Replaced a line of rotary vane airends with screw airends. 

·    Provided technical support for the development of all new Division Technologies.

 

 

1975–1977           Joy Manufacturing Company                                    Michigan City, IN

Manager of Compressor/Systems Development 

·    Direct report to the Director of Engineering with responsibilities for planning and directing the design of all rotary screw airends and package control systems. 

·    Provided technical service to both Portable and Stationary Packaging groups at the plant and Overseas Operations in Japan and Scotland. 

·    Introduced over ten new screw airends with performance and cost benefits. 

·    Developed new state-of-the-art non-lubricated compressor. 

 

 

1975–1977           Joy Manufacturing Company                                    Michigan City, IN

Senior Development Engineer 

·    Direct report to Chief Engineer of Advanced Product Development. 

·    Designed, tested, and introduced several new screw airends and two new Portablle Packages for the U.S. market (175-1500)CFM. 

·    Supervised testing of several airends and the packages (cold chamber) environment. 

·    Provided technical assistance and design/test support for special projects including Refrigeration Airend Development. 

·    Performed failure analysis studies on both screw airends and packages. 

 

 

 

1964–1968           Consolidated Pneumatic Tool Company         Fraserburgh, Scotland 

Engineer in charge of Rotary Compressors 

Application Engineer, Recip. Compressors 

·    Direct report to Chief Engineer (Compressors) and responsible for Reciprocating Compressors from order to final production build, test, and in some cases installation at customer’s facility.
